Our Beloved Gladis
Gladis was the first time we had ever spent a lot of money on a cat. When you are asked to pay
200 to 500 dollars for a cat it seems a bit excessive. But we quickly learned that it is the
only way to get a real pet that is going to be part of the family.
We quickly fell in love with Gladis and she became our baby. Around the house she did everything
with us. She was by our side constantly. But she eventually had a run of bad luck that was to be
her demise.
First she was bitten by a dog and we suspect hit by a car. She then got bitten by a poisonous
snake and nearly died. She then became pregnant to a cat that was technically too young to father
kittens. Her injuries from the dog bite made having the kittens naturally impossible and she had a
Cesar and a hysterectomy.
She was a devoted mother and reared her kittens until they were old enough to fend for themselves.
Then she got an unexplained infection and simply died. It was one of the saddest days of our life.
We will always remember the joy that Gladis brought to us. We kept one of kittens and named her Ethel.
