Maxwell
"I remember before I had Maxwell. I wanted a cat I could call
my own. My brother had Data, my mum had Gladis and my stepsister
had Munchies. I asked if I could have one of my friend's
kittens, but my step-dad said no. I was a little upset by it
but I had expected that reaction.
A couple of days later I was in my room when my mum knocked
on my door. She said 'Leah, I've got something for you! Something special!. And
when I opened the door there certainly was something special.
It was you Maxwell. A 6-week-old pure white kitten. Mum handed you to
me and I could feel you shake. You had the sweetest little meow. It
was love at first sight. You looked pink rather than white. You were
scared of your new surroundings. I didn't blame you. I thanked
them over and over. I kept asking if you were really mine. And when
they said you were I couldn't believe my luck. I played with you for
ages, just trying to get you to build up the courage to explore your
new home. You were a little afraid of the other cats and the dog but
you didn't let them stop you from sniffing every little crevice in the
house. Meanwhile I wondered what I would call you. Everyone kept
suggesting a name but they never sounded right. So I picked you up and
looked into your sweet face and asked you what your name was. The
first name that popped into my head was "Maxwell". So Maxwell you
were. And Maxwell you stayed.
You always were a loving cat. Definitely a tom's tom. You even managed
to have kittens during your short life. I'm sure they're going to
miss their daddy very much. Just like I miss you. I hadn't hugged you
or kissed your little head for 10 months. And now I never will. I cry
at the thought. You made me feel special and you made me feel loved. Because you
knew I was your mum and you loved me. I will never forget how you'd jump at my door every morning
wanting to play with the kittens. I'll never forget the day
you got stuck on the roof or the day I chased you around the
property because there were snakes around and I just wanted you inside
where it was safe. I'll never forget when you'd jump up on me
demanding hugs and a lap to sleep on. I'll never forget the sound of
your purr. I'll never forget you Maxwell because I love you. You were
the greatest cat a girl could ever ask for. And now, you're my little
angel.
I love you kitty-shnook."
